Pet Policy

In order to ensure all guests (pet owners and non-pet owners alike) have a comfortable visit, we have a few simple guidelines:

  • We welcome one large or two small well-behaved housebroken pet(s) per pet-friendly cottage. No "barkers" or puppies please!
  • When leaving your pet alone in the cottage your pet must be comfortable with being confined, either in a kennel or cage.
  • There is an additional $10.00 per night charge for one large or two small pets; and a damage deposit (credit card imprint) is required. The damage deposit may be used for additional cleaning (including scooping by our staff – if needed), loss of property, or damage to or in cottages, decks, or landscaping caused by pets.
  • Guests planning on bringing their pet must make advance reservations for the pet as well as themselves. We have a limited number of pet-friendly cottages, so make your reservation early.
  • A swimming area for dogs is available. Please see the office for location. For hygiene reasons pets are not allowed on the beach or in the roped-off swim area.
  • We ask pet owners to be as responsible for your pet at camp as you would be at home. You must always pick/scoop up after your dog. Charlton Lake Camp will supply you with scooping bags if you do not have any.
  • Pets must always be on a leash and in their owner's keeping when on Charlton Lake Camp property. Leashes are to be no longer than 2m (6.5ft) in length.
  • Pets are not allowed directly on the furniture in the cottages, so please bring sheets for the furniture as well as your pet's bedding, crate/kennel, food, and favourite toys. If your dog likes to swim, please bring a towel for your pet to dry him/her off prior to allowing them back into the cottage.
  • Guests who bring a pet will be asked to sign a waiver agreeing to these conditions upon check-in.
  • Charlton Lake Camp will not be responsible for any accident, injury or illness that may occur to or by your pet while you are a guest.
